Theo of Golden

★★★★★ ❤️

Theo of Golden is such a beautiful story, one that will stay with me for a long time. It follows Theo, an 86-year-old mysterious stranger who arrives in a small Southern town and discovers 92 pencil portraits in a coffee shop called the Chalice. He quietly makes it his mission to buy each one and return them to the people depicted—offering them a rare chance to feel truly seen.

Carrying his own grief, Theo finds purpose in these small but meaningful connections. Along the way, we meet unforgettable characters—a struggling musician, a homeless woman with a vivid imagination, a single father—each touched by his quiet kindness.

It’s truly a story to cherish, one that shows how even the simplest, nameless acts of kindness can change lives and bring a community together. It stays with you long after the last page, making you look at the world with a little more compassion.

Honestly, after finishing it, I can’t even bring myself to start another book just yet. I feel like I need a few days to sit with it—it’s the kind of story that doesn’t let go right away, and I’m not ready for it to.
