Not quite dead yet

Not Quite Dead Yet is one of those books that completely took me by surprise — in the best way. Jet Mason, a 27-year-old who’s drifted through life without ever finishing anything, is brutally attacked on Halloween night and wakes up in the hospital with a fatal brain injury. The doctors tell her she has less than a week to live, unless she takes risky surgery. Instead of hiding away, Jet decides she’s going to use her last days to solve her own attempted murder — even if that means questioning everyone in her life.
The premise alone is wild: a heroine with a ticking clock on her life, determined to uncover who wanted her dead before time runs out. That urgency gives the story incredible momentum, and Jackson does a beautiful job mixing tension with emotional depth. Jet isn’t just solving a mystery — she’s unpacking family secrets, testing relationships, and finally discovering what she really wants out of life.
I laughed at her sharp wit, I cried at the moments that hit deep, and I genuinely didn’t see some of the twists coming. It’s clever, suspenseful, and wonderfully human — a thriller that makes you feel just as much as it thrills. If you want a story that surprises you, makes you care, and keeps you up turning pages, this is absolutely one to love.
